Chapter 1350

“Noelle, when I just got back from Eurfrica, you mentioned something about your family throwing a welcome party for you. That was a while ago, why haven’t you sent out invitations yet?”
Noelle smiled wryly.
“I don’t want to go home to my so-called family for now.”
“Why not?” Lucinda reached over and took Noelle’s hand.
“You are their daughter. You need to start thinking of them as your family.
Besides, they owe you a lot. I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to dote on you and make up for lost time.”
Noelle sighed and expressed her apprehensions.
“But I can’t see them as my family. I just can’t, even though we are related by blood. You and Cyrus, you are my family.”
Aside from Mekhi, the rest of the Shaw family did not like her.

Sally, in particular, made no effort to hide how she despised Noelle.
It was understandable, since before Noelle was fund, Sally had been the family’s princess. Yet the moment Mekhi brought Noelle back, everyone seemed to forget about Sally’s existence.
And so, when Noelle had first gone over to live with them, she was met with cold treatment from Sally.
More importantly, Noelle always had the feeling that the Shaw family was not as simple and strait-laced as they presented themselves to be.
Her mind kept coming back to the night when she had gone into her father’s study. Someone had tried to strangle her, and whoever it was, they had meant for her to die there and then.
It couldn’t have been a dream. But Mekhi brushed the incident off and insisted that nothing had happened.
Noelle’s eyes clouded over as the thoughts swarmed her head.
“When you were a child, did you go over to the Shaw residence to play with Kyson or Sally? Have you ever seen my mother?”
Lucinda paused and gave it some thought.
“I didn’t really see her all that much. I only met her a handful of times, only when the Shaw family was holding a banquet or something. I do remember that she was in poor health, so she didn’t really go out much. She spends most of her time in her room.”
Noelle frowned. It didn’t make sense to her.
“And she has been this way for years?”
“That’s right,” Lucinda said, nodding.
“What is it? What’s wrong? If you have any suspicions, feel free to tell me. I can have my men look into it at a moment’s notice.”
“Forget it. It’s too troublesome. I may be overthinking things. Well, if something isn’t right, then I’m bound to know sooner or later.”
